Iconicity, innovation, and dynamism are the distinctive traits shared by the city of Milan and the illustrations for NEMI – Nest in Milan, a recently opened hotel whose naming, visual identity, and selection of complementary furnishings were also curated by Drogheria Studio.
Bringing Drogheria’s vision and creative direction to life, artist Matteo Fumagalli – also known as Fumatto – has realized a series of illustrations, giving shape to a visual narrative that embodies the essence of Milanese culture, drawing on elements from architecture, art, design, and fashion that have left their mark on the city from the XIX century to the present day. Maria Callas, the Bosco Verticale, Bruno Munari, the Torre Velasca, Giuseppe Verdi, and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II coexist in a phantasmagoria of lines and colors, in which overlapping shapes, planes, and perspectives depict Milan in a surprising and unprecedented way.
Characterized by an expressive and recognizable style and a lively color scheme that dialogues with the hotel’s interiors, the works integrate organically with the surroundings, interacting with the volumes of the furnishings and giving each environment a dynamic and immersive atmosphere... thus shaping a true “Nest in Milan.”
